Hi, Before Installing Exchange Server 2007, We are going to setup A Domain Controller on a separate Virtual Machine. The Configuration of the Domain controller is computer Name : Server1 Domain: solutions-guru.internal IP Address: 192.168.36.100
And first I am going to Setup BGINFO {http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897557.aspx} a small utility which prints the system configuration on the desktop. My Configuration for the BgInfo IS below. First download the BgInfo, Install it and then Customize it as per you needs and save as any name with .bgi extension. and then we need to run it on every boot, so we need to create a shortcut in all users startup folder.
Snapshot Time: <Snapshot Time>
After saving your customize file, Click on Start > All Programs > right click on the Sratup and Select Open all users
then right click and Select Create New Shortcut > Explore to the Bginfo.exe executable and then then type for .bgi file name followed by /timer:0 So the sytntax is : C:\Tools\BgInfo\Bginfo.exe aman.bgi /timer:0 and done :)
Setup Domain Controller I always do prefer to setup DNS Server first before upgrade to a Domain controller, The proper implementation of the DNS server require some steps, SO before installinf DNS server service from Add-remove programs, we add a DNS Suffix and then Install DNS Server
Give the Computer Name : server1 Click on more and in DNS Suffix give : solutions-guru.internal
After this Please Reboot the PC.
After rebooting the PC , go to Control Panel > Select Add Remove Programms > Add Remove windows components > Open Networking Services
Select DNS , Click OK
Click NEXT
And After Copying files, click on Finish. It may possible, while installtion it may ask for the Windows 2003 Server CD, if it asked please Insert you Cd in to the CD Drive and then Click OK. Configure DNS ZONES:
